Rook

Rook

Rook has adventured throughout the Nentir Vale for the last few years. He has taken his time to learn everything he can from each experience, and he is prone to take long periods of personal time between each outing. He can usually be found in the company of Maanek-Rex, whom he knows from Hammerfast, and the two of them have been through most of their adventures together with Roxy whom they met at Fiveleague House on their first outing. The elf huntress claimed to be looking for a better path, and Rook believes he can provide the positive example she needs to come back to the light. He has less experience dealing with the arcane members of the party – Set and Torquil – and though the former prisoner seems to be reformed, the young psion is still a little leery of him. He is absolutely enchanted with the beautiful Noura, and he finds himself to be tongue-tied more often than not when trying to discuss anything outside of the scope of adventuring.

Rook has a personal interest in seeing the Temple of Ioun in Wellspring, because he hopes to acquire the right to access the teleportation circle there. At his father’s request, he has begun the arduous task of gathering all of the temples’ “addresses” so that they might better share the lore that is prized by every one of the faithful. Besides, Wellspring is in a region with a smorgasbord of unexplained history. He hopes to tackle a few of its secrets while he is about his business.

. . .

The appearance of the grell in Estered’s Square and their search for the mysterious “Eye” has captivated Rook. He wishes to speak with Croetus, Master Vyen, or even Lord Criswell to discover the nature of the aberrations’ quarry. As well, he seeks to offer up his expertise in these matters, so as to protect the populace from any further assault from whoever sent the creatures in the first place. He is convinced that it is not an isolated incident. Aberrations don’t just wander into villages, after all.

. . .

Rook found the conversation with Croetus to be positively enlightening, and he is currently hoping to find evidence to support his theory that the former guardians of the Forlorn Tower were experimenting with energies from the Far Realm. The attack in the woods as the party traveled toward the fallen temple of Ioun by the mutated humans upset the young man, but moreso did Roxy’s callous slaying of the leader who’d started to flee the battle. He believes that whatever had afflicted the attackers is linked to the grell, due to the similarities in their injuries and scars.
